The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Consultant for the East Africa Regional Communications Officer position. The consultant will be responsible for collecting, collating, and producing high-quality content from East Africa to raise awareness, support IRC’s goals, and connect audiences to IRC’s work globally.

Scope of Work: The consultant will focus on identifying, gathering, and packaging powerful digital content from East Africa to showcase IRC’s work and support its goals of building income, profile, and influence. They will collaborate with frontline programming colleagues to gather critical information, spot stories, and develop engaging content for various audiences.
Deliverables: During the consultancy period, the consultant is expected to:
- Serve as a lead storyteller for the East Africa region.
- Complete a 6-month editorial content calendar for East Africa.
- Implement content-gathering trips in the region.
- Produce a broad range of compelling multimedia content.
- Manage the East Africa regional social media page and relevant global social media channels.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience producing multimedia digital content.
- Strong interest in international affairs and humanitarian issues.
- Demonstrated ability to develop compelling multimedia packages.
- Proficiency with multimedia and film production tools.
- Experience managing social media pages, including Instagram and Twitter.
- Sharp written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Eager to travel widely and willing to work unusual hours.
- BA degree in journalism, communications, media production, or related field.
